The Power of the L is the difference between a Home and a Holmes.
My wife and I had Andy Holmes glass in our screen porch. Andy came and sit down with us and listened to what we wanted , made a few suggestions because of constructional concerns and was back with us in a few days with a drawn plan and an estimated budget. We could not have more pleased; we were so pleased that before Andy had finished the porch we had him redo the garage, put on a new roof, and new gutters all around the house.
All of Andy’s workers were very professional, always came they were suppose to, and always on time. We got to know most of the guys by their first names. Andy checked on out progress almost every day and when he couldn’t he was just a phone call away. We changed our minds a few times throughout the process and Andy was always accommodating.
When the projects were finished, we again sat down with Andy to go over the final figures. He was within a few dollars of the original estimate (not counting the add-ons of course). He told us that he would check back with us in a few months and fix any concerns we had and for us to call if needed before he returned. Andy Holmes is without a doubt the best person you could get to do your construction work.

Andy Holmes is doing something different in home building and people are noticing. It’s almost like being on one of those television shows where the finished design blows the home owner away. I felt like I was on one of those shows with Andy. The only difference was I never saw a camera crews, rather work crews who understood the timeline and the budget.
If you want to have one of those “blown away” moments like people experience on television – do what I did. Call Andy Holmes.
My wife and I are thoroughly enjoying the screened-in back porch that Holmes by Design built for us almost two years ago. We have been able to spend time on the porch for about ten months out of the year. We particularly enjoy some of the features that they suggested that we incorporatedinto the design of the porch. For instance, the vaulted ceiling that gives us more light and airflow than what we were originally envisioning, as well as the screen system they suggested - that has worked out extremely well. Also, we enjoy the gas fireplace because it extends the time that we can spend on the porch during some of the colder months of the year. And best of all, your estimate for the project was something we thought we could afford - and the total project actually came in below budget, so that was an additional thing to celebrate. We are thankful for your great ideas, your professionalism, and the care and skill that you put into our porch - it has enhanced our outdoor living experience.

Building a forever home is a very personal endeavor. My husband and I did not want to work with just any builder. We had worked with Andy on our first house when he was still with Ole South. He was the project manager for that house, and we really enjoyed working with him. So when we found out he had started his own company we called him immediately!
Andy not only brings a vast knowledge base about constructing a house, he also brings an artistic touch to every aspect of the house making it an unbelievable home. He was able to listen to every ‘hair-brained’ idea we had and mold it into this amazing house that I get to come home to everyday (I’m still pinching myself).
In our first meeting we met the team at Holmes by Design. At first I was not convinced that a team could do what I had in mind. I thought they would not see the vision. I was totally wrong! Johnny is a very hands-on project manager. He has been with us every step of the way, making sure that we are comfortable and the subs have done what they were tasked to do. Laura, there are no words to describe how much she means to my husband and I. She has gone out of her way to keep us up to date on everything and her checklists are awesome! Doug was on the ball from the start with our budget and keeping us on track. There is not one person on this team that out shines the others, but this team outshines any other team out there! There is absolutely no way we would every build or renovate anything without calling Holmes by Design!

Are you looking to remodel a room in your home or remodel your home completely? There are many things that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to making changes to a home’s rooms or to its exterior. With the many remodeling factors comes many mistakes that are easily made if you’re not putting enough thought and planning into the remodeling process. Remember, cutting corners to save a few dollars never ends up with the quality you’d want for your home. Be sure to avoid making the following common mistakes when remodeling your home.
Remodeling can, unfortunately, lead to greater problems than you imagined. The simple act of moving an appliance can lead to the discovery of something else that needs fixing. While it’s good that this problem was unearthed before it caused significant damage, you’ll no doubt need to fix it while in the midst of remodeling… and, of course, this will cost you. Be prepared for unexpected things to happen that may increase what you intended to spend on a project. Always take your budget into consideration and put some money aside in case anything throws your estimated cost off course.
When it comes to home remodeling, you’ll definitely get what you pay for. Don’t choose the lowest price estimate by a contractor because the amount you spend will reflect the work that’s being done. Some contractors will give a lower price just because they’ll get a job done fast without much regard for quality or they’ll use cheap materials. Be sure to get multiple estimates on your remodeling plans and then choose accordingly.
There’s no doubt, remodeling is exciting! Because of this, though, it’s way too easy to jump the gun on beginning a project. Be sure not to do this. It’s important for you to wait until all the materials you need have arrived. Remodeling projects take a long time, but they will go by much faster if everything’s able to be taken care of on the same timeline.
Products you order also have the potential to come with missing or broken pieces. It’s important to check your inventory and make sure that you’ve received everything you need, instead of finding this out in the midst of a project. Not only would this be extremely frustrating but would definitely put a halt to the work that you’re doing.
If you’re planning to redo a floor or carpet for your remodel, be sure to order more material than you think you will need. When doing these jobs, mistakes happen and you’ll be thankful for the fact that there’s extra material in case of an accident. If you have extra, unopened material at the end of a job, oftentimes you can take it back from where you bought it for a refund. If this isn’t the case, you can keep it around for potential future repairs — and you can have peace of mind knowing that it’s the same material. Many times, people may find themselves needing more only to later realize that the carpet they ordered has gone out of stock or been discontinued. Do yourself a favor by being over prepared.
Measure once, measure twice and then do it again. Keep measuring. So many people remodeling make the mistake of miscalculating a space, only to realize too late, that their appliances won’t fit in between their newly installed cabinets. And that’s just one situation of a calculation gone wrong. Remember, it never hurts to measure again, or to seek the help of another person before getting to work.
